Our doctors can look after a range of medical problems as they relate specifically to pregnancy,
although each has specific areas of interest for pregnancy medicine.

Illnesses in which our doctors have experience:

• Diabetes, type 1 and 2
• Gestational Diabetes
• Hypertension in pregnancy
• Preeclampsia
• Renal Disease in pregnancy including immunosuppressive therapies in pregnancy
• Autoimmune disease in pregnancy
• Broad range of heart and lung diseases in pregnancy
• Blood clotting problems in pregnancy and the use of anticoagulation in pregnancy
• Epilepsy and a wide range of other neurological disorders in pregnancy
(in conjunction with our Neurologist as needed)
• A variety of rare and unusual medical illnesses and their impacts specific to pregnancy

Our doctors are also available for pre-pregnancy counselling for women with significant pre-existing medical conditions, including previous preeclampsia, and who may be concerned about what impact these may have on a pregnancy and their health. This allows women to understand any risks which may exist related to pregnancy before falling pregnant and to assist our patients in making informed decisions about their health and to optimise their health outcomes into the future.

Inpatient Care
When you are admitted to the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital, our doctors are able to look after your inpatient care and have a 7 day a week roster to ensure continuity of care.
